Weapons Classes

Sword, Staff and Sabre continue with a new format from this term rather than weapons days with all 3 disciplines.

Sabre: a taught session for all levels including beginners, with time for questions for more experienced students, will take place each first Tuesday of the month at 6.30pm promptly for 1 1/4 hours. This will be before our regular class at the usual Trinity Road venue, and other students who are not studying Sabre are encouraged to arrive as usual and stick, push hands, and do partnerwork until the warm up set at 7.45pm. There is a flat fee of £5 for the Sabre class, separate from normal termly fees, and it is possible to just come along to the Sabre session if you cannot stay for the rest of the class.
Dates for 2012: Jan 17, Feb 7, March 6, April 17, May 1, June 12, July 3, September 11, Oct, 2, Nov 6, Dec 4

About T'ai Chi

T'ai Chi Ch'uan is the ancient Chinese art of moving meditation, it is based on the Taoist understanding that all things are comprised of the interplay of two complimentary forces - Yin and Yang.

With its distinctive grace and flowing movements, T’ai Chi Ch’uan is becoming an increasingly popular form of relaxation in the West, as it provides an effective antidote to our stressful and competitive society. Many people practise T’ai Chi solely for its benefits to health and as a means to relieve tension. However, with a little dedicated study we find that T’ai Chi is a complete training, starting with the mind which the body naturally follows. It is meditation in movement. The stillness achieved in movement is regarded as of a higher level than the stillness reached in stillness. This is a clear and practical bridge from meditation under special circumstances to meditation under every circumstance.
