6 week Tai Chi Beginner's Courses 2010. The next beginner's course will begin Monday 25th October 2010. If you are keen to start sooner just turn up at the beginning of one of the evening sessions and we can take it from there...

Venues:

Mondays 7.00-9.00pm; Beginner's Course and Short form.

'JK Studios', Unit 7b, Clapham North Arts Centre, Voltaire Road, Clapham North, London SW4. (200yrds from High Street, through large iron gates)

Tuesdays 6.30-10.30pm; Short form, Ta Lu and Long form.

The Vestry, Holy Trinity Church, 74 Trinity Road, London SW17. (small side entrance through blue railings) Please note that we are in the Vestry to the RIGHT of the small side entrance.

Thursdays 6.30-10.30pm; Short form and The Dance.

The Main Hall, Derinton Road Community Centre, 101a/b Derinton Road, Tooting, London SW17.

The more experienced students have their sessions after the short form sessions.

By the end of the course students will have an understanding of the basic principles of T'ai Chi in relation to solo practice and partnerwork, as well as some useful relaxation techniques and improved posture.

Each weekly 2 hour class is divided up into 3 sections:

Pushing hands: This is the part of T'ai Chi that allows us to work on the principles in relation to another person. More details...

Warm-up exercises or Chi Kung: A set of exercises to relax the body, calm the mind and stimulate one's natural energy.

The Solo form: Each week the form is learnt posture by posture. By working from the mind, through natural movements of the body, we learn to understand relaxation, to interpret energy and to apply this knowledge to our everyday lives. More details...

Missed classes may be caught up at the Sunday session or at any other of the Short form sessions.
